WHELAN ANNOUNCED RUN FOR THIRD SENATE TERM

N.J. State Senator Jim Whelan-D announced on Wednesday his intention to run for a third term in the 2nd Legislative District. The campaign kick-off was attended by about a dozen local and county officials, including N.J. Senate President Stephen Sweeney. Whelan said he hopes the campaign will be focused on the issues instead of mudslinging. The 64 year-old Whelan, who also served three terms as mayor of Atlantic City, is expected to face Republican Frank Balles, Atlantic County shefiff, in November.
