DEVELOPING STORY: WEST WILDWOOD RECALL VERY CLOSE

A recall election in West Wildwood may turn out to be too close to call.  According to official election figures coming in from West Wildwood this evening, a recall election involving two sitting commissioners may result in a recount.  A question to recall Commissioner Gerald McNamara has been rejected by only three votes, 176-173; a question to recall Commissioner Chuck Frederick has been rejected by seven votes, 177-170.  However, in the voting for the two commission seats, Frederick earned 174 votes, McNamara 172 votes, challenger Christopher Fox, 171 votes, and challenger Cornelius Maxwell, 165 votes.  There were two write in votes.  These numbers are unofficial and will have to be confirmed by the Cape May County Clerk’s office.  A total of 235 people voted at the polls, and 118 people voted by mail, representing a voter turnout exceeding 74 percent.
