vineland policeA new scam is being looked into by Vineland Police. They are warning the public of the scam involving perpetrators calling to advise the victim that they are behind in the electric bill and that if payment is not received immediately, the electric will be shut off. The perpetrators then instruct the victim to go to the nearest Rite Aid and purchase a Money Pak card and that they will call back in approximately 30 minutes. The perpetrators used a cloned telephone number so that it appears on a caller ID, that the call originated from the Electric Utility. Police are warning the public to be careful, saying the Electric Utility will not call you about your bill.
