VAN DREW WRITES LETTER OVER FLAG ISSUE IN MIDDLE TOWNSHIP

vandrewState Senator Jeff Van Drew has written a letter to Middle Township’s government over the right to fly the American flag. Van Drew said that the All Seasons Diner was prohibited from flying the flag by the Code Enforcement Officer in the township. Van Drew said that the diner should be allowed to fly the flag under state law, as long as the display is respectful.

“Quite frankly, I believe this state law gives All Seasons Diner the right to display the flags in this manner on their property,” Van Drew said. “I suppose the Township could try to prohibit the display by using technical fine points. I believe that would be mean spirited, counter productive, and very possibly unlawful.”

The letter was finished by Van Drew stating that if any problems existed with the setup, he wished the township could have worked with the owners to help make sure that they complied with any necessary changes.
