Middle Township Police announced Friday afternoon that charges have been filed against a 13 year old student who brought a pellet-style gun to school on Friday. Police say the eighth grader was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds, which is a third degree crime. The weapon was identified by police as a Sig Sauer P226 Airsoft Pistol. Schools in Middle Township went into lockdown, and an all clear was given later in the day on Friday. The gun was not discharged, and there were no injuries. Middle Township Police held a press conference Friday morning with Police Chief Chris Leusner and Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor.
