UPDATE: PATERNO FIRED AS PENN STATE COACH

The Penn State Board of Trustees met Wednesday night and decided to fire their school president and head football coach, effective immediately. The news was announced at a press conference late Wednesday night by the board’s Vice Chairman John P. Surma. He said the decision was “In the best interests of the university that a change in leadership (must be made) to deal with the difficult issues that we are facing.” Former PSU assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was the subject of a 40 count indictment alleging sexual assualts on young boys.
