UPDATE: CAPE MAY FIRE

Thursday morning’s two-alarm fire that occurred at the Merion Inn, on Decatur St, Cape May, was called into the city at approximately 7:20AM. According to Cape May Fire Chief Rich Lundholm, heavy smoke was coming out of the second floor apartment above the restaurant when firefighters arrived on the scene. Three individuals were rescued from the building, including their pets. One male suffered second degree burns and was airlifted to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. The other two adults suffered minor smoke inhalation. Fire damage was confined to the second floor apartment, but there was smoke and water damage throughout the building. Responding to the second alarm were fire departments from West Cape May, Cape May Point, Town Bank and Erma.
