TREASURER PUTS SUPPORT BEHIND CHRISTIE PENSION PLAN

The current pension system would only cover about 66 percent of workers it is supposed to cover. New Jersey Treasurer Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff said he believes Gov. Chris Christie’s plan could get the state over 90 percent in 30 years. Federal guidelines say an acceptable rate is 80 percent. A Bloomberg study found New Jersey had the 11th most underfunded pension system in the country.
