TOLL PRIVATIZATION CONTRACT EXTENDED

Privatized toll collections have indeed saved money on the Atlantic City Expressway and will continue for the next year. The South Jersey Transportation Authority voted on Wednesday to extend the contract of a Virginia company to collect tolls through November. Authority officials estimate the A.C. Expressway could save as much as $7.5 million in salaries and benefits from 2012-2014.
