THANKS TO COLD WINTER, ELECTRIC — USE HAS GONE UP

Atlantic City Electric says you are using more power thanks to the cold winter.  The utility says its customers are  using 2.4 percent more electricity this winter than they did last winter because of cold temperatures in southern New Jersey.  Atlantic City Electric Vice President Robert Revelle says the increased energy use is causing a financial hardship for some customers since they have to increase their electricity  use to heat their homes.  Revelle says during the extreme cold, electric heat pumps become less efficient and use more power.
