$500 million. That is the amount the State Supreme Court is ruling that the state must pay additionally to school funding in the next fiscal year budget. The decision came down on Tuesday morning. Gov. Chris Christie has planned to take an additional $500 million in revenue that was unanticipated and put it towards a pension payment and property tax relief. State Senator Jeff Van Drew told Coastal Broadcasting that he didn’t feel it was the court’s place to decide how much funding should be appropriated.
