UPDATE: NEARLY 20,000 HOMES WITHOUT POWER WEDNESDAY NIGHT

The heavy rains and gusty winds of Wednesday night’s storm took a toll in South Jersey. Nearly 20,000 customers of Atlantic City Electric lost power throughout Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland Counties. A peak wind gust of 54 mph was measured at the Atlantic City Airport. Hamilton Township and Margate residents were the most affected in Atlantic County. In Cape May County Avalon suffered the most outages. As of Thursday morning nearly all power has been restored, except for about 180 customers in the Chelsea Heights section of Atlantic City.
