STATEMENT FROM OCEAN CITY REGARDING SNOWSTORM

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for our area in effect from 7:00 am Sunday until 1:00 pm Monday. Snow and high winds are likely during much of the day Sunday with the heaviest intensity of snow between noon today and midnight tonight. Travel will become extremely hazardous during this period and is strongly discouraged. A Coastal Flood Warning is also in effect until 4:00 am on Monday.  Minor to moderate tidal flooding is expected around the times of high tide this afternoon and again at midnight tonight.  Residents and visitors in areas of Ocean City that typically experience tidal flooding should move vehicles to higher ground. The Route 52 bridges and causeway (9 th Street Bridge) are currently closed.  Route 52 is expected to remain closed for the duration of the storm. Please be advised that West Avenue is a “Snow Removal Zone” and parking is prohibited on both sides of the street when the road is snow covered. Weather conditions and forecasts should be closely monitored during this period.
