STATE UNVEILS NEW PLAN FOR TEACHERS’ PAY

Teachers in New Jersey are paying close attention to a new reform package proposed by the Christie administration that will reform the way they will be compensated. Acting Education Commissioner Christopher Cerf unveiled a new plan on Wednesday that would result in the end of tenure for teachers and end the practice of new teachers being fired before tenured teachers. Merit pay will also be part of the reform package. The state’s teachers union has opposed many of the reforms.
