STATE SENATE VOTES TO ROLL BACK TOLL HIKES

Lawmakers continued their push to get a toll hike cancelled for the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway. A second toll hike is scheduled to take place in 2012. A previous hike brought rates to where they stand today. The funding was supposed to go to pay for the ARC Tunnel project. Since the project was nixed by Gov. Chris Christie, there has been a push to end the toll hike. Christie has said that the toll hikes must happen because money has already been bonded based on that project.
