STATE IS NOT COUNTING ON BAG TAX IN THIS YEAR’S BUDGET

New Jersey is not counting on approximately $23 million in revenues from a tax on plastic and paper bags in this year’s budget.  Governor Murphy has not signed a bill that would create a five cent tax on every bag you use.  Environmentalists and some shore towns would rather have plastic bags and other plastics banned altogether due to threats to marine environment.
