STATE MOVES FORWARD BILLS TO HELP SELL OFF RACETRACKS

Two major state racetracks could be off the books sooner rather than later. Legislation advanced in the Senate on Monday to place both Monmouth Park and the Meadowlands into private hands. The measures will cut down on race days, put both tracks under the care of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, and allows Atlantic City casinos to keep more money on horse racing. Both tracks are set to be sold off and these bills will make that transition easier. A full senate vote is still needed on the matters.
