SPLIT VOTE MOVES FORWARD VOUCHER PROGRAM FOR FAILING SCHOOL DISTRICTS

120px-Seal_of_New_Jersey_svgA vote on Thursday moved forward legislation that would provide a voucher program in school districts that are failing. The panel voted 8 to 5 in favor. Reports say the program could cost $825 million and assist up to 40,000 children. The vouchers would be $6,000 for elementary school students and $9,000 for high school students. Businesses would donate to the cause and receive a dollar for dollar tax credit for their effort.
