SOMERS POINT TO ROLL-OUT PHONE ALERT SYSTEM

Somers Point residents will be able to register for a new emergency notification system in September. CodeRED will be launched next month, to allow police to send calls and text blasts to Somers Point residents for emergency alerts. So far more than 4,500 local phone numbers will be added to the CodeRED database, and more will be added as residents sign up. The new system can target specific areas of the city, or send a message to the entire town.
