SENATE PRESIDENT TO STEP AWAY FROM FREEHOLDER DUTIES

sweeneyThe Senate President is no longer going to be holding two offices. Steve Sweeney announced to the Gloucester County Times that he was resigning from freeholder in that county effective on Dec. 31. Sweeney said it has been tiring to hold two positions, especially since he took over as Senate President. There is a law banning lawmakers from holding two offices in New Jersey, but grandfathered in anyone who was already doing it.
