REQUEST FOR TAPE BY WILDWOOD TURNED DOWN

A Superior Court judge has denied Wildwood’s request to get a video tape that allegedly shows a Wildwood Police officer using excessive force. The Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor made the announcement, saying the Superior Court judge ruled that the Prosecutor is exempt from disclosure under the Open Public Records Act. The tape dates back from a December 2000 incident, which the city claims is important to how Officer David Romeo’s case was handled.
