REPORTED ROBBERY LEADS TO COCAINE CHARGES

logo2A reported robbery took place at the Rio Grande WaWa on Thursday. Police arrived on the scene and the investigation led police to learn that the suspect, Thomas Michael Sexton, of Erma, had negotiated the sale of cocaine with the reported victim, Lawrence C. Walsh, who was residing at the Offshore Motel, located in Rio Grande.  Both arranged to meet at the Rio Grande Wawa for the exchange.  Sexton met with Walsh within the Wawa and sold imitation drugs (sheetrock) to him.  Walsh gave chase and notified Wawa personnel that he had just been robbed.

Sexton was charged with distribution of Imitation drugs (a crime of the 3rd degree) and Walsh was charged with wandering in a public place for the purpose of purchasing drugs (a disorderly persons offense).  Both were released on summonses. The investigation is still on- going and additional charges are pending.
