REPORT: STATE COULD SAVE ALMOST $1 BILLION IN BENEFITS CHANGE

225px-ChChristieA new report says if the state makes Gov. Chris Christie’s changes to benefits, than the state would save $870 million. The Star-Ledger reports that the numbers come from the Treasury Department. Christie wants public employees to pay 30 percent of their benefits, currently they only pay 1.5 percent of their salary. Some Democrats dispute the numbers being that significant.
