REPORT: LOWER SCRUBS PLAN FOR REFERENDUM ON POLICE STATION

The Lower Township Council met Monday night and rejected a proposal to place a referendum question dealing with the construction of a new police station before voters. Council voted 3-2 against the referendum, which means the project will move forward without a public vote.  The Press of Atlantic City reports that Councilman Erik Simonsen presented new information during the meeting.  He says county officials may be interested in rehabbing a current building at the county airport to serve in part as a countywide emergency dispatch operation.
