REPORT: EMERGENCY DECLARED ON STRATHMERE BEACH

strathmereAn emergency now exists on a section of beach in Strathmere.  The Upper Township Gazette reports that the Township Committee has approved an emergency declaration for the north end of the Strathmere beachfront due to the effects of Hurricane Arthur before the July 4th weekend.  The storm took about 100 feet of sand off the beach in a couple of days.  The declaration means Upper Township can act quickly to repair the beaches in the event of another coastal storm.
