REPORT: DRIVER’S MIGHT BE PAYING FOR EMISSIONS TESTING

A new report obtained by the Star-Ledger suggests a number of privatization ideas for the state, including emissions testing. The state has already decided to stop testing for mechanical failures, but the internal document says that privatizing emissions testing is one area the state could save money. Other possible areas including state parks, and Turnpike toll collection. The Star-Ledger says the document shows up to $210 million in potential savings for the state.
