REPORT: BEACH TOWN ERRED BY HIKING BEACH PARKING FEES TO PAY FOR SANDY DAMAGE

A popular New Jersey beach town erred when it doubled its fees for beachfront parking in order to raise funds to repair damage from Hurricane Sandy.  NJ.com reports that Belmar lost a big decision in court on Monday, and now has to pay for attorney fees to the party that sued the community.  The courts ruled that doubling parking fees to raise money for other expenses violates the state’s rules regarding access to beachfronts.
