PROPOSED BILL COULD GIVE TRENTON MORE INFLUENCE AT RUTGERS UNIVERSITY

A bill to expand the Rutgers Board of Governors would allow Trenton to pick more members of the board. The current system allows the governor to pick 8 and the Rutgers Board of Trustees to pick 7. A new measure would expand the governor’s pick to 10 and one each for the senate president and assembly speaker. Some at Rutgers believe this is too much influence over school decisions by the government. A form of the bill is in both houses of the government.
