PRISONERS ATTEMPT TO SMUGGLE DRUGS IN CONDOM

Middle Township Police busted up an attempt to smuggle drugs in the Cape May County Jail. Police Chief Christopher Leusnar told Coastal Broadcasting that information gathered from the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office helped. Jamie Hernandez, of Newark, was at the municipal court and immediately asked to used the restroom. PFC. Marcus Phillips checked the bathroom and found a condom filled with drugs.

It was learned through a cooperative investigation between members of the Special Services Unit and the County Jail’s Investigative Division, that Hernandez was asked to smuggle the package back into the County’s Correctional Facility by Tiffany Moore, 27 years old, from Sea Isle City, NJ.  As a result, Moore was charged with criminal attempt and conspiring with others to smuggle the drugs into the jail.  Both of these criminal charges are crimes of the second degree.  Bail was set on Moore at $50,000 full.

Video tape is being reviewed to how the drugs got there and an investigation is on-going.
