PLEASANTVILLE SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT HIRING TO BE DECIDED BY JUDGE

The hiring of a new Pleasantville superintendent of schools will be decided in the courts. Atlantic County Superior Court Judge Julio Mendez will decide if the hiring of Clarence Alston as school superintendent by the Pleasantville Board of Education was legitimate, since only four of the nine member board voted to approve. Three of the board members had conflicts of interest with the decision, so the board was advised by their attorney that a majority of the six remaining members would be sufficient to approve the hire. The judge said he will rule on the case in a few days.
