PLAN ANNOUNCED TO PUT RACETRACKS INTO PRIVATE HANDS

A plan to lease out two of the state’s racetracks appears to be in the home stretch. Gov. Chris Christie says private interests will take over the Meadowlands and Monmouth Park by June 1. A part-owner of Resorts Atlantic City Morris Bailey will take over Monmouth Park; Jeff Gural from New York, will control the Meadwolands. This move will allow horse racing to continue in New Jersey, but without taxpayer dollars attached to the operations.
