PANEL APPROVES BILL TO CREATE INTERNET HORSE RACING BETTING

Despite federal laws against it, state lawmakers are advancing a bill that would make betting on horse racing from a computer legal. The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority would be in charge of the application. The measure only opens betting up to legal state residents. Lawmakers hope this would bring in some additional revenue for a struggling horse racing industry.
