PALUMBO: NEW PARKWAY BRIDGE COULD BE IMPORTANT FOR EVACUATION

The new bridge on the Garden State Parkway will ensure the roadway is safer, but also could help people get out of town if Cape May County has to evacuate. Upper Township Mayor Richard Palumbo told Coastal Broadcasting that the southbound bridge, which is three lanes, would go reverse lane strategy in the event of an evacuation, which will help push people out of the county if necessary. Also, with three lanes of traffic being added throughout Atlantic County, if reverse lanes did happen, there wouldn’t be as much traffic back up getting out of the county.
