Nearly three quarters of a million people have applied for unemployment benefits in the State of New Jersey during the coronavirus pandemic.  Many are still waiting their first payment from the State.  State officials admit that the system cannot handle the large caseload and the computer mainframe that operates the claims is four decades old.
