A Jersey City police officer who lost his life in the line of duty eight days ago died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to his head and torso. A new report was issued this week on the death of rookie police officer Melvin Santiago who was gunned down while responding to a robbery call. Santiago suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head, according to the medical examiner. Santiago became a cop last December.
