OCEAN CITY TO FIGHT NEW FEMA FLOOD MAPS

Ocean City will spend nearly $64,000 to fight new advisory FEMA flood maps that puts much of the town in a flood zone that could jack up insurance premiums.  Ocean City awarded a contract to Atkins North America, which are experts in handling proposed flood maps for coastal areas.  Many back bay homes in Ocean City and other communities have been placed in a “velocity” zone, which could force property owners to raise their homes or pay for increased flood insurance premiums.
