NEW NJ ASSEMBLY SPEAKER TO BE PICKED THURSDAY

Two days after this week’s legislative elections in New Jersey, members of the State Assembly will pick their new leadership.  Assembly Speaker Shelia Oliver announced on Monday that lawmakers will gather on Thursday and select a speaker of the assembly, which is the legislature’s lower branch.  Oliver, a democrat, stated that she would like the position for another term.  Democrats are expected to keep majorities in the Assembly and Senate on Tuesday.
