NEW GIRAFFE COMES TO CAPE MAY COUNTY ZOO

Cape May County Freeholder Director Daniel Beyel is pleased to announce the arrival of another giraffe at the Cape May County Zoo. Joanie, a 5 year-old female Baringo Giraffe, is here on a breeding loan from the Bronx Zoo. Earlier this year, the zoo welcomed Sterling, a 15 year-old male Reticulated Giraffe, also here on a breeding loan.

Baringo is a sub species of Giraffe with a spot pattern a little different than the Reticulated Giraffe. Both species have been breeding together at zoos for some time.

Joanie joins the giraffe collection residing in the African Savanna at the zoo which consists of Sterling and two females, June and Aziza, both 17 years-old.
