NEW DEAL REACHED WITH TWO PUBLIC UNIONS

gov_christieA zero increase. That is what is coming to two state public unions under a new agreement announced by Gov. Chris Christie. Two unions agreed tentatively to a deal that would include no salary increases for two years and a one percent increase in the third year, along with a 1.75 percent increase in the final year of the four deal term. The contracts expired in June for International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), AFL-CIO Local 195, and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 518. Christie cited the private sector struggles and that this deal mirrors what taxpayers are going through. The two unions make up about 5,000 workers.
