MORTAR SHELL FOUND IN LOWER TOWNSHIP

Lower_Township_PolicePolice and bomb squad was called to the site of new construction in Lower Township where a mortar shell was found. Homes were evacuated on Friday as a result of the shell being found. It is believed that the shell dates back to World War II. Lower Township Police and the Atlantic City Bomb Squad responded to the discovery. Police say the shell has been since safely exploded. No injuries resulted from the shell finding.
