MORE THAN 20 BEARS KILLED IN NEW JERSEY HUNT

The first day of a weeklong black bear hunt in New Jersey has resulted in nearly two dozen bears being shot by hunters.  According to the Star Ledger, 21 bears had been killed during the hunt today by early this afternoon.  Hunters thinned out under sunny skies and with warm temperatures to begin the bear hunt, designed to thin out the black bear herd in the northern part of the state.  Some protestors showed up at weigh stations along with media outlets; no major interruptions have been reported.
