MORE AND MORE TEACHERS FILE FOR RETIREMENT

A huge number of teachers have filed for retirement this year. Mycentraljersey.com reports that the number has nearly doubled from 2009. Total retirement applications sit at 6,840, compared with 3,671 from 2009. A battle over contribution to health benefits and wage freezes has been going on between Gov. Chris Christie and the New Jersey Education Association, which has helped propel these applications.
