MIDDLE POLICE RESPOND TO OVERTURNED VEHICLE

Middle Township PoliceA vehicle was reported overturned on Route 9 in Rio Grande during the early morning hours on Sunday. Middle Township Police responded and found a passenger, Steven Adams 25 from Whitesboro, was ejected from the vehicle and landed on the pavement. He was flown by South Star to Atlantic City Medical Center. He suffered serious injuries. The driver, Ryan Simcox 21 from Rio Grande, was not injured. He was arrested at the scene for Driving while intoxicated and transported to the station and was further charged with assault by auto. Simcox was lodged in the Cape May County jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail. A second passenger Elijah Adams, 21, of Whitesboro was not injured . Adams fled the scene prior to Officers arriving. He was arrested a short time later for a bench warrant. He posted bail at the station and was released.
