MIDDLE ELECTION: CHAMBER EMAILS MEMBERS REGARDING EMAIL

The Middle Township Chamber of Commerce sent out an email right before the weekend explaining the content of an email that a chamber member sent out earlier in the day on Friday.  The email discussed a proposed mercantile tax in Middle Township and discussed the upcoming election between current Mayor Sue DeLanzo and former mayor Mike Voll.  The email was authored by Bob Noel, a chamber member, and was emailed to all chamber members as an explanatory statement.  Here is the content of the email distributed by the chamber:

The email you received Thursday, October 21, 2010, subject ‘Bob Noel Editorial on Mercantile Tax’ was sent by Bob Noel as a chamber member.  Email distribution to the membership is a benefit available to all members. The service is fee based, and the content must be submitted to and approved by the Board.

It is important to note approval for distribution does not constitute endorsement.  Bob’s editorial opinion and comments are not necessarily those of the chamber board or members.  Nor is any communication released by the chamber on behalf of a third party unless expressly stated.

Email distribution requests are screened to ensure that the content represents items of interest as they relate to the membership.  Censorship measures prohibit content that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, libelous, threatening, pornographic, harassing, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or encourage such conduct that would be considered a criminal offence, give rise to breach of contract, break any law, or are otherwise inappropriate.

Noel has been working in behalf of DeLanzo in the upcoming election.  Voll and DeLanzo are set to square off in their only debate on WCZT Radio 98.7..the Coast on Tuesday at 7:00pm.  The debate will be hosted by Denis Brown of WCZT, and Joe Hart of the Cape May County Herald.
