MERCURY CLIMBS PAST 100, RECORDS FALL

This is turning out to be one of the hottest days in memory in South Jersey.  Many temperature records have fallen today as the mercury has climbed well above 100 degrees, even in beach communities.  Temperatures approaching 105 degrees have been recorded in Avalon, Stone Harbor, and Sea Isle City with a heat index now approaching 120 degrees.  The all time record high for this date at the Atlantic City International Airport is 98 degrees until today, when it hit 102 shortly after lunchtime.  Many local fire departments are getting more alarms than usual today with various alarm calls.
