MATT SZCZUR CONTINUES TO CONTRIBUTE AS CUBS ENTER THE PLAYOFFS

In his final regular season game with the Chicago Cubs, former Lower Township resident Matt Szczur hit a go-ahead two-run double in the ninth inning of a 7-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Szczur finished 1 for 3 with a run scored and two RBI after entering the game in right field as a defensive replacement in the fifth inning. He finished the season with a .259 batting average, five home runs, 24 RBI and 30 runs scored. The Cubs begin the NLDS on Friday against the winner of the National League Wild Card game between the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants.
