MASS RETIRING CONTINUES BY PUBLIC EMPLOYEES

A new report says the amount of public employees retiring is continuing at a high rate. The Star-Ledger reports that nearly 15,000 state workers will retire before the end of July for this year. Lawmakers are working on reforms to health benefits and pensions, which is in turn making a number of people try to retire before it impacts them. The report says over 20,000 employees retired in 2010, which was a nearly 60 percent increase from the year prior.
