MAN DIES FROM INJURIES FOLLOWING MILK CRATE ATTACK

A 71-year-old man who was kicked, punched and hit over the head with a milk crate by a 17-year-old Atlantic City male on July 29, died as a result of his injuries on Tuesday, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel stated.

Alfred Kessleski, of Atlantic City, was pronounced dead at noon at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus. Notification of next of kin has been made. Dr. Charles Siebert performed an autopsy on the victim and determined he died of blunt force trauma to the head, Prosecutor Housel stated.

The morning of the assault Kessleski left the Ducktown Tavern and walked to his residence on the 2400 block of Atlantic Avenue. At 1:58 a.m., while the victim was still outside of his apartment building, the juvenile beat Kessleski and stole his wallet, Prosecutor Housel stated.

Atlantic City Police arrested the juvenile at his North Florida Avenue home the night of the crime and charged him with armed robbery, robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon (a milk crate) and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is lodged in the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center in Egg Harbor City pending further proceedings.
