LOWER TWP. POLICE RESPOND TO SUICIDE ATTEMPT AT POLICE HEADQUARTERS

A 33 year old Villas man was arrested Tuesday after he stood outside of the Lower Township Public Safety Building, armed with a knife, asking police to shoot him.  Brian E. Doherty Jr. was eventually persuaded to turn over the weapon and subsequently bit a police officer several times when he was taken into custody.  Doherty is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and other offenses.
