LOWER TWP. POLICE INVESTIGATE THEFT AT VFW BUILDING

Lower_Township_PoliceLower Township Police are investigating a theft that took place at the Villas VFW building located on East Delaware Parkway in the Villas.  Police received a report of the theft shortly before 7 o’clock this morning.

Investigation on scene determined that some time between 2 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. unknown actor(s) entered the building by forcing entry through a second floor door.  Once inside, portions of the building were ransacked and cash was removed from two (2) cash registers in the building.

In addition, a small safe containing currency was also physically removed and stolen from the building.  Police also ascertained that the suspect(s) pulled the electric meter off of the side of the building in order to disable any security systems in the building, prior to the burglary.  Police believe that over $4000 in cash was stolen from the VFW and their investigation is continuing.
